ASSIST and TUV launch SwEEP for PSIA Members

PSIA in collaboration with ASSIST and TUV recently conducted a successful SwEEP CEO Forum at the Manila Marriott Hotel last October 24, 2011. Software Industry Excellence & Empowerment Program (SwEEP) is a PSIA initiative with the aim of fostering growth with a direct focus on MSME’s within the Software Industry by doubling industry capacity and revenue by 2013. It is an industry cluster program with the goal of improving the IT industry competitiveness of the Philippines through a well-structured organizational Capability Development Program.

The Capability Development program focuses primarily on process and people improvement through a series of trainings and workshops, consulting/technical assistance which will eventually lead to international accreditation, improved skills and successful business management.

Present at the SwEEP CEO Forum to deliver an overview of the PSIA 2013 Industry Goals was Calen Legaspi, Director of Technology and Corporate Secretary of PSIA. Program Manager of ASSIST, Karthik Subburaman, was also there to give the mechanics of SwEEP. The event was well attended by PSIA members who fall under the MSME category with < 150 FTEs, <USD 20M revenue, with some percentage of their business going into export and has been a member of PSIA for at least 3 years.

Several companies have already expressed their interest in becoming a part of SwEEP. The program is delivered by ASSIST and TUV in cooperation with PSIA. They will choose up to ten companies to become part of the SwEEP cluster. Deadline for submission of application forms is on November 4, 2011.
